Veterans Headstones & Markers
A government headstone or marker is furnished at no charge for eligible veterans.
Types Available
- Upright marble or granite headstones
- Flat granite, marble or bronze markers
- Bronze niche covers for columbarium placement
- Bronze medallions to affix to a privately purchased headstone
What Is Inscribed
The inscription includes the veteran's legal name, branch of service, years of birth and death, and may include rank, war service, awards, an emblem of belief and a brief term of endearment.
Eligibility
Veterans discharged under conditions other than dishonorable are generally eligible. Spouses and dependent children buried in a national or state veterans cemetery may also be memorialized.
How to Apply
We complete VA Form 40-1330 for your family, attach the discharge paperwork and coordinate delivery with the cemetery. Setting fees charged by a private cemetery are not covered by the VA.
