Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to the questions families ask us most.

+ What should I do when a death occurs?

Call us any hour at (252) 795-3777. If the death occurred at home without hospice, call 911 first. We will come into your area, bring your loved one into our care and guide you through every next step.

+ How soon do we need to make arrangements?

There is no need to rush. Most families meet with us within 24 hours, but we will work with your schedule and with family traveling from out of town.

+ What information do you need for the death certificate?

Full legal name, date and place of birth, Social Security number, parents' names including mother's maiden name, marital status, education and occupation history.

+ Is embalming required by law?

No. Embalming is generally required only when there is a public viewing, when a body is transported across state lines, or when the disposition will be delayed.

+ Can we have a viewing with cremation?

Yes. Many families hold a visitation or a full service before the cremation takes place.

+ Do you accept life insurance to pay for the funeral?

Yes. We accept assignment of most policies so families are not required to pay everything up front.

+ What does a funeral cost?

Costs depend on the services and merchandise you select. We give every family a written general price list before any decisions are made.

+ Can you help with veterans benefits?

Yes. We request military honors, order the burial flag and government headstone, and help file for VA burial allowances.

+ Do you serve families outside Robersonville?

Yes. We serve Martin County and surrounding counties throughout eastern North Carolina, and we can arrange transfers to and from any state.

+ Can we pre-plan a funeral?

Absolutely. Pre-planning is free, and you can record your wishes with or without pre-funding them.
